| The only "challenge" that you will be getting back home is the challenge of finding a decent paying job. Tons of competition for jobs and they won't kiss your little fanny like Korea does. |
Thankfully, after 10 years of busting my butt and saving in Korea that is not a challenge I will face. My challenge will be finding the right business to buy. |

Challenge is where you choose to take it.
If you see your job here as not challenging then thats your choice.
You could always change jobs here.
Going home for a career change is cool too.
Thats just a different set of challenges.
Best of luck Fonzie.
Dutchman, same to you man.
As for me, I have a house back home that is basically paying for itself while I am here.
It will be all paid in 5 years (10 year morgage) and had increased in value by about 40% since I bought it (yay for the real estate boom).
When its paid, we will either sell it or continue to rent it.
Either way its all good.
If we do decide to go back to Canada at some point we have a house and substantial savings.
I have also gotten into consulting while here and thats easily transferable back home.
Teaching is also wide open here and back home.
In short, plenty of options and a confortable retirement is almost assured. |

| I've been teaching at a uni job in South Korea for two years and it has been better than my Hagwan experience. At least, I feel somewhat more protected than when I worked at the Hagwans. The pay is always on time and my health and dental insurance are pretty good. The pay goes down substantially during winter and summer vacations but I make up for it by working at the uni during vacation times. However, I feel there is a real danger that if I don't continue upgrading my skills through online education then I'm limiting my opportunities just to Korea. If that happens, then I will have nobody to blame but myself. Anyone who is interested in a uni job should try it for at least a year and then make a decision. |
