Egads, I'm starting to remember why I never post here anymore.

OP, the public school jobs have been cut back and there are not as many which is the reason it is more competitive now then it was say 5 to 7 years ago.

Hagwons are a dime a dozen, but you really have to do your homework in terms of investigating what kind of a reputation they have. There are some good ones and bad ones, if you pick a bad one it's going to be a year of hell.

Tom made a good point about your diploma and transcripts. Also for an E-2 you have to have the background check (I don't know how that works so I'll defer giving advice on it).

I've worked in both Korea and China and prefer Korea. It may be that I've been here so long I've just adapted to how things are. I was only in China on a short-term contract, but would personally never go back.
