found a credit card. was going to take it to the police. then i found another one. two credit cards, each with a different name. stolen? i turned them into the police. they insisted on taking my information. name, number. said it was so i could be "thanked." i said nah, no thanks, but then they told me it was the law. is this normal? these cards were obviously stolen. should i be concerned by this? |

Or more likely the "NEVER GET INVOLVED" and "NEVER LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL" act of 1968 |

Does it matter?
This goes beyond conspiracy theories.
1. A person finds 1 credit card.
2. They find another.
They are framed by the gestapo. Hide your Jewish children. |

Honestly dude, why are you asking people on Dave's about this? Yeah there's a lot of old salts on here who know the ins and outs of being a foreigner here, but I'm sure no one has ever experienced your situation before. Call a lawyer if you really care. |

Should've done what the locals do and popped them in a post box. You could've been an anonymous hero, like the batman. |

I found CC's a couple of times in late night taxis (mostly corporate cards), I was wondering why the drivers were so reluctant to take them. The probably dropped them into the next gutter.
Seeing how you can "sign" off on almost any amount here by scribbling nonsense with your index finger, I'd be worried if I ever lost mine. |

I often use my wife's credit card. Do I look like a woman? No. Do I look Korean? No. Is my signature anything like hers? No. have I ever been declined a transaction? No. Now if you you had an evil mind you could easily............................................
She sometimes uses my credit card. Does she look like a fella. No.
Has she ever been questioned or declined? No |

I once found a wallet with about 20만원 in it. I was also detained by the police for about 20 minutes. After that I radically changed my policy in Korea to: DON'T GET INVOLVED.
A few months later I found a beaten up old briefcase with a Chinese passport in it in the park. I just closed the case and walked away. Some Philipino dude on a bike saw it next. He raced by, scooped it up and never looked back.
The Korean police are basically useless. Apparently before the '88 olympics the government hired about 20,000 police for that event. Most of which were not qualified in any way to be police. These "officers" are now the senior members of the force who set policy.
Go figure |

Yeah, used to do the same with my gf's card there when she wanted me to buy something for her or pay for something when she wasn't with me. Never once did anyone question me when doing it. Strange. |

Just report it missing. Using a stolen card is one of the easiest ways to get caught here. |

This. Or just cut it in half & put it in the trash, which also does the original owner a favor. No need to identify yourself or get personally involved. |

Return them to the bank/store that issued the card? That's what I'd do in the US. |

Theres no prize for associating yourself with a card that might have been abused before it was abandoned. Good guy motives aside, thats just inviting trouble. |
