I've applied to a handful of recruiters. The first two got back to me pretty quickly. One called me a few days after I applied. The other - Footprints - sent me an email with a request to send my available interview times (which I did not do). Although both recruiters seemed capable, I was searching for an agency that would be a perfect fit - one that was not too big or small and had a tight-knit community (or Facebook page at the very least). So I applied to three more.

I received an email from one recruiter that indicated my application was received. Since I applied a few days ago, I am still waiting for someone there to contact me. The other two, though, have yet to contact me although it has been a week or two since I've applied. This is causing me great frustration. They did not even bother sending me a notification email that my application was received. When I emailed one of these recruiters, I was informed that I will be contacted with a job offer if I am a good fit (and that they were currently making changes to their notification system). They also took the time to explain to me that this was how most agencies work.

I wanted to know if this was true? I feel that I should receive a phone call like my first two recruiters had the courtesy to do, as many applicants will undoubtedly have questions about the visa process and Korea. It is very tiring to keep sending in inquiries through their site when it could be resolved quickly through an informal phone interview! In the case of these two recruiters that did not get back to me, I sent in my photo and I am Asian-American so I was wondering if this had anything to do with it? I also happen to be a first-time teacher with a degree in English and no teaching experience or certificate.

It's unusually slow right now during summer vacation season due to go on for another week or two. Did you also get a triple split shift job offered to you in Cheongju and then get ignored on everything else?

Depends on when you are applying/how much of your documentation you have in hand.

More details would be nice.

I didn't get any job offers. But I guess with the school year due to start soon, it does make sense why they're taking so long to get back to me. I applied to my first two recruiters (which did get back to me) a few months ago. I also do have most of my documentation. I am just awaiting for the return of my apostilled degree and criminal background check. I did not indicate that in my application to these recruiters, however, as it was not asked. I am also kind of confused with the idea that I am expected to wait to be contacted with a job offer, as one of my recruiters indicated, if I did not even mention what kind of schools and grades I wanted to teach in my application.

What start dates were you planning on applying to. If its, Aug, Sept, Oct then recruiters won't even bother because you are still waiting documentation. If you plan on applying early next year then just sit back and wait until you receive all of your documentation.

You are ahead of me in the game (if it makes you feel better), I won't even receive my diploma until Oct.
