| About as close to the DMZ you can get without buying a ticket, as I recall. It isnt a big city, but probably not a bad place to be. |
Probably. |

Well, if the North did invade and that is a big if, you would be one of the very first to know.
Not sure if that's a pro or a con to you.

The 90th Artillery Brigade is in the area so you can always run to them. |
Run to the target. No thanks. I'm heading to Costco's deep basement full of food. |
Don't worry man. Korean artillery units are only outnumbered and outranged. What could go wrong? |

Many of the publishing firms have offices in Paju. That part of the city is distinctive architecturally because they are all housed in especially designed buildings.
With two huge outlet malls--Lotte and Shinsegae--Paju probably has the best shopping in Korea (excluding food at Costco). |

Why people are saying Paju is 2 hours from Seoul i do not know.
There is a bus from outside Paju English Village (one of those Red/Orange color buses, i can't remember the number) that goes straight to Hapjong Station [hongdae!!] in about 40 minutes. Although i did that trip very early in the morning so there was no traffic.
Anyway, Paju is not as far as people make it out to be. |

| Paju isn't so bad. It's quite spread out. There's Book City where the mall is where you can do fancy clothes shopping. Then there's the Paju artist village which is right across the street from the English Village. There's new town Paju and also old town Paju. Old town Paju (Geumcheon) has the rotary with some neat little Korean style bars all the youngsters like to inhabit. Bus 9709 goes all the way to Gwangwhamun and Seoul station. Bus 2200 goes to Hapjeong station. Plus there's the Gyeonggui line that goes to DMC and Seoul station. |
