If I submitted my FBI background check last year, will I need to get another this year (like the previous State CBC)? I heard that you do not have to do this if you previously submitted it. |

No.
If your proper documents are on file and you are continuing the same status of sojourn (renewal, extension, transfer or change to a D10) then you only need (from YOUR side):
passport
ARC
application
fees
the employer would supply:
new contract
guarantee form (sponsorship)
copy of their business registration.
IF you are CHANGING your visa (new visa application with a visa run) then you will probably need a new set.

Hi Ttompatz,
I have a queston about this same topic: I went to immigration with my co-teacher and all our papers and they wrote in black marker in an empty space on the back of my ARC.
They didn't give me a new visa sticker for my passport. We asked and the immigration guy said it's normal but, another ESL teacher here has gotten new stickers with each renewal. Is this the way it's done? I'm thinking that when I return to Korea after my winter vacation next year, it will look as though my visa is expired.

Maybe your friend had a new card and you have an old card. Things will be fine if you leave and come back. The immigration officials have computers at the airport to check. |

You're fine, no worries. I've never gotten a visa update in my passport (note my join date) & I come & go every year.
Some immi offices put update info in passports, many dont bother. |

That is a possibility. Immigration might ask for a new one when you transfer or renew. Still hold off on getting, if an official asks for it, get it done. |

I have never had anything put in my passport when I extended my stay.
They simply print/write it onto the back of the ARC and update the computer file.
It has never been an issue for me in Korea or when traveling.

Not for immigration. Possibly for the MOE.
