In March I had a medical done for my work visa and they made reference to my liver and coming back again for more tests.

I'm 30, not a heavy drinker and in excellent health so I was a bit freaked out. My boss came back from immigration with my work visa transfered over and renewed for a year a few days later so I figure that all is well, as far as immigration goes at least (I do plan a follow up for my own health....when I am not so busy!!!).

I'm changing jobs next month and my new employer asked me to get a new medical done which I did today.

Do I actually need to provide immigration with a new medical check to trasnfer a visa????

Does immigration actually care about liver testing or was that just something that the hospital mentioned to me as a general health tip???

As an aside, it may not matter either way since the hospital was instructed today that my blood and urine sample is only to be used for the HIV and drug ("TPBE") tests.

Thanks!!!!

You have to get the medical check each time you get a new visa.

Nobody is going to care unless you have some AIDS or drugs up in you. It's just the hospital alerting you of your invalid liver. If they kicked people out for stuff like that, every overweight, neckbeard dude-baby would be on here weekly complaining about being deported for high blood pressure.

Your liver readings can fluctuate and not be of much significance. There are even some genetic tendencies for this (ie. gilbert's syndrome) where you bilirubin levels are off - sometimes after fighting off a cold/flu etc...

Someone posted previously that you can fail this test because of simple things like cold medicine, pain relievers, or pollution. These things can show up on this test. One way you can do something about it is to take milk thistle supplements that help to clean your liver. In Korea I've seen them at GNC, (very expensive) and Costco in Ilsan, (29,000 for a 3 month supply).

One time my supervisor caught a look at my elevated liver-whatever test score & gave me a high-five.

The last few years are the only time I've had private medicals completed and got the results in a timely fashion. One of the perks of the EFL life, methinks.
