You've got wave after wave of young, often immature graduates coming out here constantly and, let's face it, a lot of them have a pretty miserable time. Of course you're going to get a lot of the same naive comments and venting against the host country caused by feelings of culture shock. If he doesn't like the tone of the place why doesn't he stop whining himself and go and post his amusing news stories elsewhere? |
While you have a point here, much if not the majority of the trolling is done by long-term posters. It's relatively rare that you see someone with a recent join date do this...although there are some.
As for a lot having a miserable time...there are thousands of people that come over. Of the horror stories one hears on Dave's and other sites there are a few dozen.
Sure maybe we never hear many...but by the same token we never hear most of the successful or happy stories either. I'd say it's about six of one and half a dozen of the other. |

While Madoka was harsh, he also has a point about the return trollers on here. He also has a point about certain users on here who trip over their own feet in their rush to their keyboards as they found anything that could remotely make Koreans look bad. These threads pop up frequently enough and usually have no other point that to bash or demean and are not even formulated in a way that could foster discussion. Heck, you would have to be blind not to see it. |

Indeed but the majority of bash threads are started by posters who have been on this site and in Korea for a while.
The new grads that do arrive may complain through culture shock which is completely different as far as I am concerned.
At any rate, this site, like most anonymous online sites, over-represents the negative because frankly speaking people who are content or happy in Korea will not come online and post about it, thats human nature. |
