Peter asked him, "Dude, what's up?"
God was like, "Oh hey. I'm just creating the earth. No big deal."
And so Peter was curious, "Who are these guys over here?"
"Oh. These are the Koreans. I am giving them delicious cabbage, called Kimchi, and beautiful mountain ranges. Also beautiful weather and serene tranquility which will be the envy of the world."
"Wow. You have blessed the Koreans so much. Truly they are favored among your creations!"
"Not really. Wait 'till you see who I'm giving them for neighbors!" |

Isn't most of the Western food available here, especially outside of Seoul, only the crud food? (By this, I mean only fatty and greasy food?) |

Today I had an interview for a public school job at an EDUCATION OFFICE (not some silly random bozo teacher asking a silly question) and I was asked to name one thing that I HATE (they actually said "hate" and not "dislike" or "don't like" about Korea).
I immediately joked that the language was difficult to learn (I had already told them that I was studying Korean earlier in the interview). I laughed and thought that that was it and they would let it go but my laughter was greeted with serious eye contact from the 4 interviewers sitting across from me whom actually seemd to expect me to think of something. I hesitated and said that I could not think of anything.
How would you have handled this?
As an aside (I was obviously in no position to point ths out to them) would you ask a Korean in a job interview in America to name one thing that he hates about America???? HAH!!!!!!! |
hey OP - did you get the job or what? how about an update? |

Try this: "The thing I hate about Korea is that your brothers and sister in the North have to live in poverty and misery under a repressive dictatorship. I hate it that all Koreans can't live together in peace and prosperity."
If you didn't think of this within ten seconds of being asked, you need more interviewing experience. |

If you want the job say "The fact that Korea doesn't get the credit it deserves, for its greatness in everything, around the world, because Japan owns the international media. It's all because of jealousy."
Not only will you get the job but you will get a standing ovation and high-fives on your way out of the room and building.
Ask a stupid question... |

I wouldn't have hired you, for you answered a question with a question. |
Your loss. I've earned my employers over 3 million dollars in the years I've worked for them. |

lol. it's fascinating to see some of the reasons why some of you fail so hard at being here.
as with any job interview, flip the question to your favor. yes, it's possible to do that with ANY question or situation, you just need to be quick on you feet and be prepared for typical questions and scenarios.
for example in that situation i would have answered: "hmmm... (to make them think it wasn't pre-meditate) well the thing i guess i would say that i don't like about korea is that i spend so much time in traffic that i don't get enough time to see more of the beautiful things korea has to offer"
they will nod and lament and revel in your broad understanding.
sure it might not be true and you may not even like korea but it will get the intended reaction.
there's a reason why some of you fail at interviews (and life in general) while others of us ace them. |

...lol...4 pages into this thread...the expression 'quick on your feet' just somehow seems to mock the post itself.

Good lord...what an easy question--deflect. The answer was instant for me...but I would throw in some hesitation words to show that I cared about their difficult question.
You simply do what all Korean news media outlets seem to believe is the right thing to do; you blame the foreigners (and by default, your competitors).
What do you hate most about Korea?
Hmm...well...let me think. Well, to be honest, I kinda don't like that so many foreigners come here for the job and not the experience. They sorta drag me down with their negativity. (Then end on the positive) I mean...Korea's got so many great places that make the country beautiful and well worth travelling in. (Throw some wood at the fire) Like, just the other day I took a great trip to [any remote place you can think of in Korea or that you've actually visited] and found it amazing.
Eh...come to think of it, this isn't really a lie for me. Though I honestly do have a grudge with the news media outlets here. Horrible. |
