I can remember in 2002 or so, when a Subway Sandwich shop opened in Jinhae...it was a mile or so up the main street, left up the highway through the tunnel and out the other side, and then weaving our way around the street to the shop on the side of the mountain.
Great Italian meat ball sandwiches, but since the 4 of us could not keep the place afloat, it died.

But we've wandered off away from the topic of the thread...
I've been here long enough to remember what it was like to come around a corner and have an 8-month-old Korean infant burst into tears of hysteria at the sight of a non-Korean.
I've been here long enough to remember when we were 'rock stars' when we walked down the street, when we moved into a neighborhood. All just because we were pale-faces.
Korea has come a looooooong way since then. Some of it good. Some of it bad. (I can remember when a student said, "There are NO kisses before marriage and damn few after.") [I translate freely.] |
