Hi guys

I have been told by an afterschool company that a school has now accepted me . I had been doing interviews with several afterschools for almost two months and passed them all successfully. but only now have they been able to find a school. However, my e2 visa is going to finish tomorrow. I was also accepted at another interview for Public school today but at end they realised that I was still on the E2 (they thought I had already transfered to a d10). They are worried that it would be too hard to get the paperwork together in time to transfer my e2 visa tomorrow.

Does anyone know if its possible to extend my e2 for a further week whilst the paperwork for my final contract is finalised?
I'm aware of the fact that I can apply for the D10 tomorrow and simply wait but schools want start dates in early September. I know the public school wants me as early as september 3rd for training and start classes on the 7th. Can I get a letter from the school ect to say i have been accepted and show immigration in order for them to extend my visa a little longer until the paperwork is done?

Cheers guys

You are too late to deal with an E2 transfer tomorrow if the paperwork isn't started.

You can switch to a D10 tomorrow and then change again to an E2 when the paperwork from the school is ready next week.

You would still make a Sept 3 start date.

Thanks for your response. According to immigration, the D10 can take up to 2 weeks to process and in that period I can't work or bring a contract to be switched to E2.

I was wondering if a letter can be done by the accepting school in order for immigration to give me a few extra days to switch over once the paperwork is done.

Just transfer to the D10. You aren't LEGALLY allowed to work, but you'll only be teaching there a week before your E2 transfer gets made. It won't necessarily take 2 weeks either. It may take less.

I wouldn't worry about it if i were you.

I was also told it would take a few weeks to process a D10, however it actually took about fifteen minutes at Busan's shiny new immigration office. They put my ARC into some printing macine and it came out with a 2013 expiry date on it. The D10 is relatively new so go ask your local immigration office what the deal is.
