I think the Korean insistence on "catching the whale" is a bigger issue. All that pain, and for what?

Anyway, your revulsion to plastic surgery is a typical reaction of a modern person trained to see the world through the filter of modernism in modern art. Beauty is a virtue and there's no reason to reject it except for your loyalty to ... counter-culture. So passe.

erm, i think I need to read and digest this before commenting...

my sympathies to the child and to the OP.

I have freckles and was told very young by someone, I don't remember who, that they were angel kisses. got used to them over time and that's that.

they aren't particularly all that common among caucasians, either for that matter. what they represent is a sign of mixed heritage, and in my case, that's true.

what is unfortunate is that exposure to the sun will simply create more. I can't imagine any surgeon with enough skill that can remove freckles and not leave scars. it sounds like not just extremely bad parenting but also medical malpractice. what a jerk of a dr to have done something like that!

and no, it makes no difference to say well if that dr hadn't done it, another one would have. if there was any kind of moral standard of care, no, it would not have been done by any dr, not on a minor certainly and perhaps, not on anyone.

OP, you are certainly justified in your emotions but I'd be careful about how you express it to the student. he needs to understand everything is going to be ok, being upset will just cause him unnecessary pain. he will have to deal with it eventually in his own way. it's far and beyond your responsibility. sorry, so very very sorry.

Instrestingly enough, those students are NOT in a public school in South Africa....oh well, details can get in the way of rethoric.

150 cuts is the worst, 70 is alright and 30 is nothing.

yes, actually I am. Germany recently made it illegal for young boys, did you know that? And theres a very good reason for that decision. Because it serves very little purpose what-so-ever (except in specific medical circumstances).
So yes, I am against the circumcision of 12-15 year old boys penises. Just as I am against female circumcision.
(I know youre probably being sarcastic, but you never can tell on the net... Wink )
