Do you perceive yourself as a logical or emotional person? Or somewhere in between?
I think I'm on the extremely logical side of the spectrum and it can get me into trouble sometimes when I cannot understand why some of the people in my life do the things they do. It often prevents me from empathizing with people; if someone's broken up, say, about a boyfriend or girlfriend, I'll often think to myself, "that sucks, but I'm not surprised this happened. It was the only logical outcome of all their illogical actions."
I feel like logical people are compelled to fix problems/resolve disagreements on the spot (would other self-prescribed "logicals" concur with this?). This has gotten me in trouble more than my fair share of times with girlfriends--who are often more on the emotional side and when in mid-argument, can't be hassled with things like rational thought and are concerned only with how angry they are. I suppose it's a bit illogical of me to pursue arguments with people who will not respond to logic, but it seriously gives me a headache when a simple solution is right there and people just can't seem to understand it.
I have a very, very close friend on the complete opposite pole from me and the fact that she has a metric ton of issues that could EASILY be resolved has become a constant stressor in my life lately. I try to give her sound, logical advice that is simple as pie and she just cannot seem to grasp it. For example, she had a boyfriend of many years cheat on her and until last month, for a several years, repeatedly attempted to text/call her despite having married another women and having a baby. Instead of removing herself from the situation and doing the LOGICAL thing like blocking him, she would read the messages and became a depressed alcoholic. It took me 6 months of convincing but she FINALLY changed her number. She was surprised at the improvement in her standard of living
You might say, "if this friend is causing you so much stress, wouldn't the logical thing be to stop concerning yourself with her business?" Yeah. I'm not a robot, though, and I have invested a lot of time into this friendship. In any case, maybe it's time to try and change how I relate to people. I need to learn to resist the need to act on what I see and just accept that most people will just do as they do. It can't be healthy for me.
Anyone else relate? |

More logical. Have to be. The younger females I date can be extremely emotional and some of their ideas are just totally wacky.
But then again I must be very emotional to want to date them because the clear headed thinking logical person would probably run fast the other way. |

I think you are just being more indifferent, but being indifferent is not being logical.
Men, when compared with women, tend to have more problems relating with others. in other words, men are more apathetic.
Apathetic people sometimes are good at giving others advice, but those suggestions are not necessarily logical since they don't put themselves in others shoes, very often their advice won't work.
On the other hand, women can be very emotional but logical at the same time. Especially if they know how to use their emotions properly.
Just my opinions. |

OK so lets recap:
Men are dense about others and anti-social
Women are empathic yet logical.
Got it.

How much pocket money your wifie gives you every month, Patrick.
Isnt it the right amount of money that you can survive with but not enough for other "bad" things? With which you still feel content and loved? |

No pocket money, you should know better!
I cannot manage money because, well, I am a man. |

Nobody is 100% one or the other unless he or she has some kind of dysfunction. |

I dislike the perception that men are logical and women emotional. I have found that it varies between the two greatly. In the past women hid their disdain more as a social construct. Now (in the west) they don't really have to play those games, hence, I guess, the number of men over here trying to catch an asian ('emotional') wife. |

Fantastic!
You start by "disliking" a faulty perception that limits genders (in the "West") and then jump right into making one about Korean woman and western men in Korea!
Well played, it is a rare thing to see someone sink their own argument so effectively and quickly.
I wonder what's next in your Korean women behavioral analysis...oh wait I think I know, western men marry asian women because they are submissive and because they (said western men in asia) "could not get a real woman back home". Is that the crux of it? |

You seem concerned. There's no battle unless you engage in one. |

Indeed then again this is no battle. |
