The school pays severance monthly. |
I worked under a contract which specified that, and it turned out to be illegal and we fought and got severance in the end.
Another poster mentioned something about private pension plans, though, so I'm not sure what applies in this case. |

I'm looking at applying there. Anyone have any info on what it's like to teach there? Thanks!" |
I was offered a contract there a couple of years ago. I did the interviews and met the president, etc., but a close friend went in the hospital and needed someone to cover for him for a semester, so I didn't take the job...I don't regret helping my friend, but do regret missing out on the opportunity.
I met with the head teacher and communicated with a couple of guys there. It looked like a great place to work. It is a high level university in Korea, 4th in some rankings. And foreign teachers have been there up to 16 years, so it can't be all bad. You have to do some set curriculum and then get opportunities to do ur own thing too.
I don't know that I'd say "boondocks" but it isn't down town, |

Thanks! The only thing that I'll have to work on is the research section of the application. |

How can they offer no severance? I thought it was a legal requirement (?) |
Universities who enroll their staff in a private pension plan (as permitted under labor law) are exempt from entering their staff into the NPS and are not required to pay "severance" (which is actually another type of pension as required by the Employee Retirement Benefit Security Act (part of the labor standards acts)).
