In case anybody has not heard yet, Typhoon Bolaven is heading towards us as we speak. See here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19388627
I've been through typhoons before, no big deal. I lived in Gangnam last year and awoke to 3 feet of water running down Seocho-daero. The only thing that gets me worried is that my afterschool program for Tuesday has been cancelled in advance. Let me stress that this has never happened before due to weather. These kids study through fire-drills - we never have cancellations.
It makes me wonder what the hell is coming. Does anybody have specific details from the Korean weather service? Where can we go to get up to the minute storm tracking and/or emergency information. |

Current weather forecasts indicate:
28-08-2012.. 00:01 (midnight) winds of 147 kph (80 knots) and make it a cat 1. Location projected to be 240km SSW of Jeju.
28-08-2012.. 12:00 (noon) winds of 128kph (69 knots) and make it a weak cat 1. (below 65 knots is a gale). Location projected to be 90km west of Mokpo.
29-08-2012.. 00:01 (midnight) winds of 97 kph (52 knots) and make it a gale somewhere over North Korea.
IF you were on the SW coast or one of the islands it might be time to batten down the hatches. In Seoul... business as usual.
Typhoon Maemi it isn't.

Yep. According to tropicalstormrisk.com it's fizzled/fizzling. Barring an unforseen event, nothing more to see here - get back to work! |
