Let me guess. You're English?
Actually most of the countries you listed couldn't give two hoots about fallen, depressing "great" Britain.
Washed up superpower who had some interest and influence 70+ years ago, but these days is the source of ridicule and pity amongst former colonies who are for the most part doing better than ye olde motherland, or horror at the fact the country whose language most of us make a living off these days virtually requires subtitles every time one of it's serfs speak.
Meanwhile the "great" British natives relocate to more desirable places in the
old commonwealth in record numbers for purposes of better financial opportunities or better quality of life. Who cares about who exactly?
These days "great" Britain is on par with those gross old cougars who hang out in Geckos in Itaewon telling anyone who'll listen how amazing they are, and how all the guys in the place want them, and all the girls in the place want to *be* them, yet in reality everyone just looks at them and rolls their
eyes and makes jokes at their expense as to how delusional they are.
great indeed. |
Actually you really sound like you actually do give two hoots about 'fallen depressing Great Britain', wherever you're from. Your rant comes across as pretty bitter for whatever reason. Kind of like the way the more obnoxious
Scottish or Irish people often sound after a few drinks. |
Interesting. I've experienced more of that from English people here. |

I think it's more a vague sense of who not to like based on very very dimly remembered news reports on the one hand and the obnoxiousness of specific people you've happened to run across while out and about.
It isn't really fair, but it's true that I remember the Not-Americans from Canada far more vividly than I remember the Canadians I've met here in Korea. I remember the I-hate-the-Welsh-the-Scots-the-Irish-the-French-the-Germans...and Americans are far too arrogant because everyone knows we-beat-the-Germans-before-the-Americans-entered-the-War-Brits-and-didn't-really-need-their-help-and-for-that-matter-cricket-is-a-better-game-than-baseball far more clearly than the Liverpool couple I met in Greece who stood up and hummed (not knowing the words) the American national anthem on the Fourth of July. |

No, remember the Korean that was beheaded in Iraq. Doesn't surprise me that they hate Iraq at all. |
