"Love may not always be romantic and tender -- about 7,000 Koreans have been suffering from dating violence annually for the last three years, a report said."

Abuse that happened more than twice, especially when its related to drinking, is highly likely to recur, said Dr. Lim Se-won, a psychiatrist at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital. Its important to take action when it first happens.

Right Dr. Lim Se-won, after the first time a drinking man might stop after the first time so you just don't know until it happens "twice" or...? Women should thank the Dr. for telling them what "action" not to take. I'm guessing Dr. Lim is a female who didn't want to upset the boys for suggesting women should leave a man for being violent.

(bolded to assist reading comprehension).

What part of "It's important to take action when it FIRST happens." don't you understand?

She is quite clearly telling them to take action the FIRST TIME it happens. The prior statements are simply discussing the likelihood of such abuse recurring.

Nowhere does she state the sentiments you are attributing to her.

This just in: A 7 year old girl in Naju was abducted and raped. They arrested a Chinese guy in his 30s but they're not sure if he is the suspect.

I believe the suspect was Korean, but I could be wrong. I also read that the poor girl had her intestines damaged in the attack.

If she was MY daughter, I'd have a new goal in life and it would involve getting the rapist and...

It was a 23 year old Korean guy, an uneducated loser. Graduated only elementary school and worked at constructions, spending most of his money on booze.
Remember that priest who did a similarly awful thing to a girl and he got 12 years?

One article said the perpetrator will probably try to use the "Society isolated me" or "I had a rough childhood" excuse. Korea's next president could be a woman and hopefully she will drastically toughen penalties for cretins like this guy.

Basically, some guys here say, "I'm your senior. You have to come drink with me. Drink more! I know you can." After a while.... Let's just say I have it on good authority that K girls get raped a lot in college. Soju, the drug of choice.

Yeah because sleeping with a married women who willingly cooperates is the same as abusing your significant other.

If I were the husband of the married woman who slept with some other guy, I think I'd tend to disagree. Someone said it's a victimless crime? Really? Do what you want, but if you sleep with my girl, I'm going to kick the he!! out of you and throw the b!ch out.

Nah...they're just protective of them. I was running (shirtless) one day and the guy covered his girlfriends eyes as I ran by.

No, he's afraid his girl will like your waygookness. I was biking up the road this evening coming up behind a couple and he grabbed his girl pushed her to the other side of him. There was plenty of space on the sidewalk, so he didn't need to do that. Naw, Korean guys don't want "their" girls looking at us.

Well, good for you. It still ain't a crime and it's your fault for marrying a women who'll cheat on you or not doing enough to maintain your relationship.

Sometimes, it's not the guy's fault. Sometimes it is. Sometimes, it's a bad guy. Sometimes, it's a woman with defective character. Either way, I think divorce law favors a spouse who was cheated on. Maybe depends on the state. But there's clearly something wrong with people's judgement when they think there's nothing wrong with it and it's a victimless crime. There are consequences in everything from personal guilt to it breaking the other person.

In some rare cases can even cause people to snap and do something rash, which I don't condone. At any rate, it's never happened to me. But, I find people's dismissal of it troubling and a seemingly increasing social problem. Guess I always had the view, have fun when you're single but be faithful when you're married or in a relationship. If you really don't respect that person enough to be faithful to them, break up with them or divorce them.

Guess I was raised to have respect for people. Maybe some people's parents didn't raise them well or teach them anything. I guess some of the cavlier attitudes surprise me. I couldn't have imagined if my own parents were out cheating on each other. That said, people do need to be aware of playboys and playgirls when they settle down with someone. As said, when I'm single I do whatever. But don't cheat in a relationship, never.

If things decline or bad, I or her will have broken up and moved on. I think cheating is the ultimate insult. I do think there has to be punishment at least in the sense that a divorce or common law relationship coming to an end means there's a financial penalty. But going to jail does seem a bit extreme.
