| Also apparently I'm attending on Sept 8th-9th some program from a professor at Harvard (but apparently it probably isn't the real Harvard? whatever i'm confused) will I mostly likely be getting overtime for this? it's 9am-6pm so I'm hoping so. |
Housing: probably have a private bedroom in someone's apartment.
No, you won't get overtime for it (9-6 is only an 8 hour day and you aren't teaching) but if you are lucky you won't have to pay for transportation and meals.

Yes, but it is a saturday and sunday, while my work week is m-fr, which is why I would think overtime. I mean, it's not the biggest deal if not, just a bit annoying.
Annoying like my flight to seoul being delayed like 5 hours because of this typhoon business ughhhhh. Inb4 being trapped in seatac all day. |

And I checked my contract,
Payment made for assigned teaching hours is inclusive of payment for preparation and administrative duties connected with those assigned classes. Employee agrees to take orientation and training, attend meetings and seminar workshops scheduled by employer without overtime pay.
Oh well. So long as I agreed to it, I definitely don't mind then. It just sucks to lose one of my first weekends |

For a guy, Uniqlo and H&M are good places to get clothes that fit. I'm tall with a thin waist, but I've never bought a pair of jeans/trousers from a Korean clothes shop that have fit around the thigh. Korean guys have chopstick legs. Also shirts often don't fit around the shoulders and chest
You don't need to bring a year's supply of deodourant. Just visit a Homeplus when you get the chance |

Deodorant and indoor shoes.
I've bought plenty of deodorant with me, but I thought I'd wait until I got to Korea to buy indoor shoes. I had to go to 7 different stores to even find something my size, and I spent quite a lot of money on them as I didn't have a choice. You can order stuff online, but it's quite inconvenient when you first start teaching to worry about stuff like that. |

| Keep us updated. If I weren't in a relationship right now, I would be filling out documents to go to Korea now even though I am a teacher in America. |

| Yeah, I have a blog started (teachingabroad.me) and I'll be updating it later today probably. I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I'm getting pretty bad anxiety and am kinda scared to leave my apartment alone, because it just seems pretty lonely not knowing anyone and not being able to speak to most people. I think with a little time and getting to know a few people, it should get better. |

| Stay in your apartment? New country, new language sounds like an adventure. I would at least head to the nearest bar! |

Yeah, I'm just having some social anxiety from being a minority for the first time in my life. Going out alone is a bit hard at the moment, but I'm sure it'll get better, and I'll hopefully make some friends soon enough. |

| If you have social anxiety right now, it won't get better. You haven't even encountered the racist old guys staring you down yet. And if you get a K-girlfriend it'll be 10x's worse. Have fun teaching in korea! |

OP, whatever you do, do not take most things you hear from D7 too seriously. Sure, things he mentions happen, but not nearly to the degree that he leads people to believe (maybe in his bubble they are worse than the average person?). |
