Who repeatedly goes on an anonymous internet forum to defend the rights of a child rapist?

True, vigilantism is a cousin of the witch hunt and the lynch mob.

Both of which have a legitimate place in life.

CentralCali...this is just not true...not in theory and not in reality.

The fact that you are making this an absolute...makes it really quite easy to refute.

No thesis required.
Only common sense.

The lynch mob, yes in very very extreme circumstances, as in the aforementioned Breslan School Massacre. Witch Hunts? Never.

That being said when it comes to victim's families attacking the perpetrator in court, I'd let em get in one or two shots before I'd separate them, that and give them some slap on the wrist like "disrupting court".

My biggest problem with vigilantiism is the OOPS! factor.

How many time have we seen the mob go after THE WRONG GUY?

Interesting concept of fair you seem to have here, J. I'm repeatedly defending the concept of the rule of law. Cotton to that yet?

What is the legitimate place in a civilized society of a witch hunt? Of a lynch mob?

You may need to get another set of "common sense" if you think it's easy to refute the argument that the unlawful taking of a human life is unlawful.
