So there is an expensive hotel at Seroksan I am checking out for a family vacation. It is called Kensington Stars. Has anyone been there? How is the food? Is it really 4 stars? |

Its nice enough as hotels go. The lobby & general facilities aim for that "grand" old hotel feel but the rooms are on the small size & really nothing special. Meals are pretty good (buffet & steaks). Location is excellent, a short stroll from the entrance to the park.
Personally, I'd opt for one of the many motels in Seorak-dong for sleeping. A half to a third the cost, 10 minutes from the park by frequent bus. You could still hit up the Kensington for a nice dinner. |

I found a room for 100,000 won on the net but that doesn't include breakfast
How much was a steak dinner? |

The steak was alright. The atmosphere was really nice in the inside restaurant . The hotel was probably great 10 years ago but now is getting a bit long in the tooth. The service was really great when we went. |

I second the recommendation for Seorak-dong. You can stay for 50 or less per night. The area has many small lodgings, I stayed at Goodstay Smile Resort. This area is a lot more quiet, more relaxing, and it's an easy and frequent bus ride to the park entrance. Use the savings to pay for your steak dinner if you want it. The Kensington is near the park entrance, but so is ALL the traffic, bus, cars, people walking. |
