How long on average does it take to get your VIN? It seems to be taking quite a long time for me (today marking 2 weeks the school got my documents.

It takes immigration between 4-10 working days to process a visa confirmation number (VCN); longer during high load periods like just before the start of term in February and shorter the rest of the year.

It can, depending on their need, take a school anywhere from a day to many weeks to make the trip down to immigration to actually apply for the VCN.

It may also take anywhere from a day (if your recruiter actually had a job for you) to weeks (if he has your documents and now needs to try to sell you to someone) to get the documents from the recruiter to the school.

When I did it, about a month, and I got it all straightened out so they mailed me the passport with the visa.

Did you send your passport to them or will you go to the Korean Embassy? I am unclear if people can get just the VIN without the passport. That's why I am asking. I assume you can since you can do a visa run, in which case I would think it would be quicker to get it all done at once instead of going to the Korean Embassy (unless you are already near one, a walk in might be faster).

Thanks for letting me know. Im basically waiting at this point, and Ill just have to ask the school when they sent my documents to immigration. I would of thought it all would of been finished since my contract does date 9/10 as my starting date but the school since said it was just listed to predict when everything would be finished and my start date would be when I arrive.
