Which is your favorite used bookstore in Korea? Explain.

Myself, I'm kind of torn. I like "What the Book" for it's warmth and homeyness. Buddy serves the best cup of cappuccino on the hill. It's definitely worth the purchase of a book! He's a great guy to talk to and will order anything that you might want off of the net. The store is well organised and it's well lit. He also has some writer & poetry workshops from time to time.

Now, do note that I also like "Abby's Book Nook". Seeing her warm smile and bright eyes will make anyone's day. Though, the coffee's instant, the couches are so comfy. You can really sink into them! In addition, the new paperback novels that she gets in, she apparently does not make anything off of them. And even though it's a bit musky and dusty, it does have a really homey feeling with those couches!! Not to mention her good taste in folk music!

Both Bookstores are just past the mosque, in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea.


There's the other bookstore down by Noksapyong Station. It's very small and crowded. Also, a tad more expensive. PM can tell you more about it than I can (like, the name, for instance).

Let's also remember the free book exchange that happens once per month. Hey, you can't beat the price! It should be happening this Sunday aft. That's close to City Hall Station.

If I am in Seoul, I like the crowded one best because they seem to have the best selection of science fiction and fantasy.

I also order used books online from http://www.myunicorn.com/. They are a Canadian company but drive to the us to ship the books so the cost is quite low.

Any other places to buy used books? I read a lot!!

What the Book? is launching its internet shopping website sometime this week. Check out the website or stop in and get details from Chris. I've done my research and What the Book? offers the cheapest new books in all of Korea bar none.

Yeah, that cramped little bookstore near Noksapyeong has a decent selection of books...but that old guy there jacks up the prices and will even screw you on the trades. He's a wanker. Anyhow, the selection is pretty good. They have comics...but they are all crap and just a bunch of old DC and Marvels. Still, the prices ain't cheap.

What the Book, of course (although the location bites).

Looked all over friggin' town for Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption and What the Book is the only place that had it.

I'd have to say 'What The Book' just edges out 'Abby's Book Nook', purely for the fact that Chris at 'What The Book' is a frigging champion guy, mind you, What's-her-name at Abby's smells better!

I still find the selection in any of them rather lacking. What the book is probably the best though.
