Hurricane Blaaaven was just that, blaaaa in my neighborhood here in Jeju. I walked around and didn't see a single window broken or power line down. Just some twigs and leaves on the ground. Yea it rained and the wind blew and the power went out for a few hrs but it wasn't that bad.

The drama queen comment is correct. If anyone wants to get excited and cry wolf about this next wind and rain maker, go ahead.

I'm actually quite bewildered that this thread has not been terminated some time ago. Acts of god happen with statistical regularity. There is nothing we can do about it. However, where I come from we stare adversity in the face. Then we adapt and we overcome. We don't whinge and whine like little children. We don't scream and jump up and down when others are not terrified. Because fear is defeat. And defeat is not in our vocabulary.

My god I don't se any whining here or on any of their previous threads on storms. All I see is people informing people about an upcoming storm. I see no panic, only 2 pompous posters who feel the need to belittle everyone else.

Sure thing boss, we'll let the 100 families who were made homeless know it was nothing more than a little wind and rain.

Do you realize how pathetic you sound?

Maybe you and FDNY could form a little club and vote on how much property damage, and how high the dead bodies need to be stacked before you quit mocking the dead.

All schools on Jeju are ordered to close on Monday.
Other provinces or perhaps the whole country will likely follow.

Property damage is nothing, the loss of life is much more consequential.

I meant that it is predicted to downgrade to a Cat. 1 when it reaches Korea.

It's just been made a Cat 2 (barely). What's the width on this one?
The last one was very wide, so even though it was far off the coast we still got it pretty good in spots.

Interesting as it still has a pretty good eye. But the waters are just too cold around Korea so it will probably eventually weaken.

Looks like it's weakening and moving west, which means it shouldn't pose a problem for those of us in near Seoul. Has it made landfall down south yet?Any updates on how bad it is down there?

I'm about 40 minutes from Mokpo. It was pretty windy earlier and it's still windy but not bad at all. I don't think it's fully made landfall yet.

Landfall by Tongyeong (still fairly strong) and should exit somewhere by Sokcho. Intensity dropping with from 100mph at landfall to a simple gale by 6pm and nothing but a memory by midnight.

Gonna be wet in central Korea and Seoul probably won't even notice.
