yes very sad indeed!
they still don't know what happened but there is a thread on this topic already
sounds like they were poisoned. one girls body was fighting it better than the other at first but then also feel sick and died. I mean poisoning drinks?
maybe.. or maybe they both applied the insect repellent to their bodies and they killed them? if the hostel was spray that night, why was it only them who died? was it only their room which was sprayed? some bartender spiked their drinks hoping they were gonna fall unconscious back in their room so he was gonna break in rape them or rob them or both and gave to much?
I mean it's crazy... we have no idea what happened and we have no way to insure it doesn't happen to anyone again. |

So odd (and sad... and frustrating) that the authorities seem so inept in this case. |

The article says chloropyrifos poisoning is suspected.
I wonder...lax regulation on the use of lethal insecticides/pesticides? Or could it have been neurotoxins deposited by the U.S. military in the Vietnam war?
Or could it have been caused by exposure to the normally permitted dose of CPFs? Both had travelled in the region before, and they say repeated exposure to small doses over time may lead to eventual sudden collapse, due to the fact that these chemicals are stored and concentrated in the fatty tissues. They may also happen to have been more susceptible than most.
All this is speculative, of course, since we don't know the cause of death for sure.
But I hope people realize all the cant we hear about 'cutting government red tape' really comes down to this: allowing wildly reckless and irresponsible actions like spraying lethal substances where people walk.
And I wonder how many local deaths there have been that we haven't heard about. |

They are corrupt. Don't expect much from corrupt people. They want this to just go away.
The truth will become clearer when an autopsy is conducted in the girl's home country. |

This whole thing is deplorable. I see more and more now why I want to escape from SE Asians and teach in another locality and not come back. |
