So I was sitting pretty at 76kg, abs showing and fairly cut, though I need a bit more muscle.

Two weeks ago I decided to hop on a scale because my girlfriend said it looked like I was losing weight in my face and I was down to 73 kg.

One week ago I checked and I was down to 72kg.

I checked at the gym today and I am down to 71 kg.

I am not sure if I should be worried or not, I usually only have time to lift once a week now because I am busy but I am doing almost NO CARDIO so I feel a bit concerned. Right now I look lean but I am afraid there might be an underlying issue. Any insight?

To lose all that in a month is a tremendous amount of weight to lose in light of the fact that your life (eating and workout habits) haven't changed.
I'd get a checkup pronto.

Did you check yourself on the same scale each time? I went on vacation, and thought I'd gained 5lb by the end, but it turned out that my dad's scale was off. Wahoo for only gaining 1kg even though I ate a lot of pizza and bagels!

well you didn't mention about your eating habits. have you changed them at all? but yeah 5 kilo is a lot to lose. ummm don't mean to sound crude but have you been doing more cardio in the bedroom? perhaps dancing in the club? walking more? you know what I mean, has anything changed out of the normal routine? if not, then you seriously need to visit a doctor.
worst case, could be hyperthyroidism, cancer, liver disease, kidney failure,Infections , Stress and depression..

I mean could be anything, could be nothing. check to see what has changed in your life and if you don't find anything psychically different which might be the result in weight loss, then you need to seriously see a doctor.
goodluck man, hopes its nothing..

Just an insight...

If you were lifting more before...and now only once a week...you are losing muscle mass...very common if you were lifting regularly before.

Same thing happens to me...5+kg in one month...happens every time I stop lifting.

A lot of it is water weight often retained by the muscles during times of intense exercise.

Start lifting again, and you will regain the weight.

Then again..it could be any number of things.
Good luck with it.

You can't lose 10 pounds of muscle mass in one month unless you have a leg amputated or something haha. It could possibly be water weight though. When you lift weights your muscles will hold onto water while they are repairing themselves. If you haven't been doing as much weight lifting, then you're probably just not holding onto as much water thus the drop in the number on the scale. But as others said, it could be any number of other things.

During this time, did you ever wake up in a bathtub filled with ice and notice a sharp pain on the left or right side of your lower back?

Thanks everyone. My eating habits have remained pretty constant and I've actually been eating more recently, albeit healthier. I was thinking I might have lost some in the muscle department as I was doing 100 kg on the incline but could only manage 80 kg today.

As for bedroom exercise, that's pretty constant...no more than normal.

As a side note my mother had diabetes and I have also been quite fatigued and urinating/drinking frequently so I feel I should get some blood work done just to be on the safe side.

Thanks again.

Yes, get blood work done pronto. Not to freak you out or anything, but those are also all signs of lymphoma (speaking from personal experience here). There are also many other possibilities too, such as a thyroid issue.

Unexplained weight loss is a symptom of HIV infection. Maybe you should get tested.

Yes to previous post and also many other diseases - malaria, West Nile, encephalitis, cholera, etc.

Blood and urine work-ups are quite cheap in Korea, even if you don't have insurance.

I'd email Lady Gaga and ask her what she's been eating lately. You're sure to gain all that weight back and then some:

Weight can change by any number of factors. But, IMO, one of the most important things is - how are you feeling?
