Did anyone go to this thing in Seoul last weekend? It's already been pretty well established that Mannam is basically a front for Shincheonji, but I'm curious as to how overt the religious aspect was. Like Lee Man Hee make an appearance? |

Apparently He-man entered the arena in a flowing cape on a wire. |

Are you sure it was a wire and not the power of faith? People are so quick to dismiss miracles nowadays I find. |

Ha! My husband accidently went to this. He plays in a soccer league and got a message from his team manager to show up for the chartered bus so it could take their whole team to a big international soccer festival. He got to the stadium, was given a sticker with his national flag on it and all white clothes and told to march in a parade which was the opening ceremony for the 'soccer tournament.' Half the team was chosen to march in the parade and the other half was told to be the audience. After a couple of hours, they realized that there was no soccer tournament and they took a taxi and left. We know have a house full of Mannam products that they pushed on to him.
I'm pretty sure the majority of the foreign participants were young men who belong to some sort of soccer league and were under the impression that they were going to attend a soccer tournament.
I also don't think that Mannam is trying to hide the fact that they are part of Shincheonji. In my husbands pictures, they gave everyone in the audience a sign so when all held up at the same time it read "Shincheonji Mannam" |

I went. The cultish atmosphere was creepy. While leaving I asked a random person working there how to get to the subway. Her question? "Did anyone say you can leave?" As if I need permission? I was worried she wouldn't believe me when I told her "yes" and abduct me or something. |

I hope your husband quit the team immediately after he discovered he was scammed by his own manager. |

That is pretty scary. Not like in a horror movie, but scary that that sort of thing actually goes down. |

Don't people do any research into organizations before they join? All it takes to get some people to join a cult is a free t-shirt and a bottle of water? Was that how they built up the Hitler Youth in the 1930's? |

There has been a really blatant smear campaign against Mannam lately. I am reluctant to believe most stories about them and think it is unfair to compare them to Hitler Youth. Whoever started this campaign against Mannam probably has ulterior motives and knew all of you would be happy to jump on the bandwagon. I think it is great that a church can set up a volunteer organization and have it be about helping people and not just religion. |

Have you looked at any of their literature? If so, how did the Kool-Aid taste? |

I think it is people speaking their true feelings and experience. I was asked to go in the parade with a group of motorcyclists. the more I looked into it the more I realized it was just a ploy to get more people so their movement looks bigger. the flyer I received said something to the effect of "you don't want to miss this once in a life time chance to get a free bus ride to our world wide peace celebration."
It is like doing stuff for free on Korean tv cause you are white. if you have time why not but always they are just using you and you don't get anything out of it. Some of the people are really sincere but it is a colossal waste of time. but then again so is drinking away the weekend so who is to say... |

They brought it on themselves through not disclosing their relationship with the cult leader. |
