I feel better now. It wasn't brought up. I don't think anyone even noticed.

Maybe I was being paranoid.
I have felt nothing but paranoia since I've come here. Everything I do, I second guess myself. Maybe I have anxiety issues. Maybe dave's esl cafe's horror stories are contributing to it. I just want to relax.

I'm still new. Maybe it will come with time.
I can only hope.

Paranoia or not, people on this forum can be unnecessarily cruel and ridiculous with their assumptions and responses. I often find myself thinking, "thanks for nothing", even when I'm not reading answers to things I've actually posted.

I think your question is perfectly legit, and I'm happy to hear nothing came of it.

Back in 2006, toward the end of my first year in Korea, I was smoking (I was heavy smoker then, quit completely for a couple years, and now smoke only when I'm drinking, although I want to get off it again altogether) on my way to work one morning with another female co-worker (she was also smoking). I was spotted, but she wasn't, for whatever reason.

This was during summer vacation, and we working split shifts. She and I shared a class, and when it was my turn to take over, she came into the office and said that a boy had seen me and the students were talking about it.

They asked about it when I went in, and I acted all like, "Huh? What are you talking about?" But I was definitely worried. Thankfully, nothing else came of it. Whether my boss heard or not, I'll never know, but I know he liked and trusted me, and it was towards the end of my contract.

Anyway, nice response from Keeper, in particular, who said, "I'm not making fun of you but if you are this troubled by something so insignificant then possibly you do need some professional help."

Personally, I have huge issues with anxiety that have only gotten worse over the years. Perhaps my anxiety at the time was a sign of things to come. Still, the whole, "I'm not making fun of you, but..." is basically like saying, "With all due respect, but...", when of course you mean exactly the opposite. Way to be sympathetic.

Unfortunately, your school can fire you for any reason if you have not worked there for 6 months. They don't even have to give you 30-days notice.
