Hi everyone, I've been offered 2 jobs this week in Korea, with one in Ansan a place that I know quite well, the other is in Asan-si. I've searched the site and found very little on the city, so I was hoping for some advice as to what to expect there, also the likelihood of finding people in the area. If anyone knows of a facebook group for this area it would be great.

Thanks

Chris

I'm there. It's a place.

http://www.ansananswers.com/ has not been updated in years, but it has information.

The area around Hanyang University has some drinking, and there's a Homeplus, so you can get olives and proper tea. But I have not yet found a source of Knig Ludwig Weissebiere in the area.

Although it's a coastal city, there are no dive shops. You'll have to go to Osan or Seoul if you want to go diving, and the closest place to paraglide is Jungkwang, on the far side of Suwon.

Where in Asan?

Asan is quite rural compared to Ansan, but the foreign community there is great. Asan (also known as Onyang) is on the Blue subway line and you can get to the KTX in about 10 minutes.

I lived in the Asan area for 12 years and still have friends there. If you PM me or post a question here, I'd be glad to help!

Oh, a*san*. Oops.

That's basically nowhere. I would give it a miss.

If you are considering working in that city, I would aim for a hagwon or a public school via a university like Sunmoon. It is a great city, but like most situations, the wrong employer can totally ruin your stay.

So, you're saying that Bu*san* is basically nowhere?

I think you're confusing "san" and "si". Si just means "area"...kind of like a county in the US.
