What happens if I break the contract before it expires? With reasonable excuse. (family being sick)
and what can I do about the hagwon that fires me before the contract expires? (when I am not at fault but they are just losing too many students within the whole hagwon, can't afford to keep all the teachers) |

The time of breaking the contract matters for it affects the payment of the flight getting you to SK. If you quit before 6 months, you have to pay back the payment of the flight to SK. It doesn't matter to the school. If somebody died or you being really sick to close to death. You broke the contract and it's all your fault. (Korean logic)
If the school fires you before the contract is over, you have to pay for your own flight back home. No severance pay. Get the F*** out of the apartment ASAP. Some schools are genuine about being close to going bankrupt or other various reason so they will give you some leeway. If they are D***s, then you're on your own. "Thank you and never back again." |

If it's a bad hakwon then all routes are on the table, you could be given a day's notice or a month. Crazy stuff happens in hakwons in Korea, you're best of checking here for options. |
