Ajumosis - a disease that inflicts Korean women aged 30 - 35 and over, but is not entirely restricted to this age range. Symptoms include roundness of the face, spontaneous curling of the hair, and the sharpening of elbows used for cutting in lines on the subway and elevator, and in the bank, post office, and supermarket. They are most easily recognized by their welder-mask-looking visors that are worn all the time, umbrellas even when it is not raining, and occasionally the snapping of gum. These people should be approached very carefully, although the disease is not catagious, the infliction is most always accompanied by mental illness, dimensia, and paranoid schizophrenia. The exact cause of the illness is not known, but is usually brought about by being married to a soju adachie (their mate) and having one or more children. It is suspected that the combination of soju, kimchi, and garlic have something to do with the infliction, but these reports are still unfounded.

Nice one, don't forget they are wearing designer golf clothing and hang out in coffee shops their sound is similar to a murder of crows. The husband rarely gives them the chilli pepper do to the required girlfriend their husband must have to show his status among his peers. I love this god forsaken country.

I saw one last year while waiting for a friend of mine in downtown Gwangju. It happened in front of the post office. I think what happened was these two ajummas were selling things and one got onto the other's territory or something. In any case, there was a lot of yelling and screeching and then one ajumma took the other's visor off her head and started to beat her with it. It was too surreal.

"The ajumma was killed with her own goofy sun visor hat."

"That's not way for an ajumma to die!"
