Hello all,

I don't go out drinking often, but I went a couple weeks ago. It was a cocktail bar. I tried to order some vodka or rum with some diet soda. When I drink I try to keep the cals down. But the place didn't carry diet soda. Is this the norm for most places?

Pretty much! Not many choices when it comes to diet sodas. The Korean side is basically Coke Zero/Diet Coke and some Diet Cider. The diet cider is still fairly new at about a year now. Once in a while some bars might be stocked up on the club soda. I give that a 50/50 chance.

Sorry OP not diet Dr. Pepper, root beer, etc. There are a few other Korean low cal drinks, but most I do not trust for carbs. Which is surprising with the very diet centric way Korea is.

Most bars will stick with the basics of cola and cider. Why cater to a small crowd.

One thing I found help me is a little bottle of Stevia. PM me if you want to find how to order and get.

Thanks for the reply. Diet cola would be fine with me, but this place didnt have it. I would just like something to mix with. I actually brought a good size bottle of stevia from home. And I agree with you, I can't believe with their focus on weight that low cal mixers aren't more available. Good luck to me finding diet tonic water...

I think it's just a matter of diet soda not being widely available in general.

If you're paying a lot of attention to calories, vodka/water or whiskey/water is probably your best bet for liquor.

Otherwise wine or lower calorie beers.

Or if you don't drink often, one or two mixed drinks won't kill you.

Yeh water is an option. One or two won't kill me, but when I drink I usually drink a lot more than 1 or 2.

Then don't eat dinner, or take in your own mixers.

I'm aware of the options of what to do if there are no mixers available. I was just wondering if it was regular not to have diet soda at bars/clubs.

Don't think I've ever seen diet soda here before. Not common to say the least. As for stevia, I bought some last summer at home plus. It was written in Hanguel. Look around the spices section or sweetners section and you might find some.
