Since I missed the sign up for last year's race, I wanted to be sure I got in this year.
It seems like registration closed in under 90 minutes.
Did anyone else get in?
Looking forward to what should be a fun way to spend a Sunday in late October. |

it sold out in under 30 min, thats faster than for a springsteen concert in jersey at the meadowlands football stadium
they may reopen later in the week when people dont pay
tbph its a crap race, too many wannabees etc, you cant get any speed since you're ducking around couples walking together, no starting by anticpated time etc a couple of years ago i ran the race in 1:15 which was near the front, but it took me 1:30 to get my bag back
no thanks it aint worth all that for a t-shirt |

| I've run the race. I ran it in 40 minutes and didn't really think it was all that crowded. I wouldn't do it again just because there are better races every weekend, including that one, that don't sell out in fifteen minutes. That doesn't mean it's a crap race, though. If the others there are wannabes and it's too crowded because you're running with them, what does that make you? |

So where are the better races? Can someone please give me a link where I could find info on upcoming events, I am interested in 10K or 21K runs.I have checked

I currently live in Suwon, has anyone joined a running club here or know of one? I just arrived here 3 weeks ago and have stopped running due to my laziness but I prefer to call it adjustment period  I wanna get back to the nice routine I had back home. |

check the seoul flyers facebook page, they have a list of races and if you join they will help take care of the registration process.

Yeah, I'm not surprised to hear the mixed/low opinion of the race.
But, I lead a small group of runners and it'll be their first race ever, so I hoped that having all of those people around would help make them generate excitement for running and racing.
I didn't join this race to PR, just to see what all the fuss is about and try and get some people loving running.
I'd read about the bag handling issues, and we will not check things at the race.
Those of you who have been, is the concert fun at all or just take a pass? |

| Call me a cynic, but if my Facebook feed is anything to be believed, this is the event du jour for people in Seoul who think of themselves as being "fit" to get pictures of themselves taken doing something "fit" and post it on their various social networking accounts. I consider myself extremely fit but I just can't stand to be around so many posers and tools. |

Eh.
The running sphere has its share of posers and tools just like every other one.
At least people are out moving and not just posting pictures of them drinking. Though to be fair I think both styles of pictures are equally obnoxious.
My last race had a total of 264 participants, so this will be an interesting change. |

yeah those are good sites too, just easier to join an expat running group like Seoul Flyers or Team Dirt etc because there is usually a Korean or two in the group who will handle registration etc. Makes life a whole lot easier plus some race organizers give discounts for groups. Yes there are other groups outside of Seoul, I know of a group in Daejeon and another in Busan
Last weekend for instance there was a race out in Gapyeong and the organizers gave us a 5,000 won/person discount plus free transport. I just paid the mania rate (no swag) and the race and bus cost me 10,000 won total. Oh yeah and the races here have some wild swag (i've gotten sardines, rice, shoes, all other sorts of clothes, there are many poor kids wearing all my race stuff and oh yeah get this one race gave the guys razors and the women tampons, I'm not kidding) Most I paid for a race is like 40,000 won. In the states the going rate for races is twice that for a lousy 5k.
Now if they could just stop with the calisthenics and every other word being "hwighting" i'd be so happy

The race swag is definitely a deciding factor.
If any of you are looking for something next month (besides the Nike run) the hiseoul run is also quite popular.

The swag is pretty nice as well. |

The problem with hi seoul (maybe not this year for the most part) is having the finish at Seoul Forest. Its can be unless you get there at 6:30AM a madhouse putting your stuff on one of the trucks going to the finish, by 7:30AM its chaos. This year the 10k is an out and back along the chongyecheon and now only the half goes to Seoul Forest. I wasn't going to run it this year because of that but with the course change I'm doing the 10k |

concerts have been K-pop so its not worth it. even the medal for finishing stunk 2 years ago it was a plastic spaceman
Props for getting a group out but this race aint the one to get them to love running since they wont be running. Wish I could give you a rec for a race but most races here have no crowd support to speak of. |

I was wondering how that worked. Wasn't sure if they had shuttle buses back or what. I'm doing the half.. Hopefully it's not as bad if they changed the 10k course. |
