I got a contract over the weekend and reading through it, it seemed to favor the school a bit. On the other hand, they're putting me up in single housing and I'm getting a salary that I'm happy with. Is this something that other people have noticed as well?

As a rule of thumb, the terms of contracts always favor the drafter.

Pretty standard for contracts in Korea. If you are happy with what they are offering, sign it. Good luck. Smile

They give you money and a house and x days vacation.

In return you have to work x hours on x days a week and do x,y,z things.

Whether the contract favours the employer on the employee depends on your perspective and other offers I suppose.

Anything specific in the contract that you object to. I have seen some contract clauses that I would be cautious off but generally they are standard contracts that someone swiped from someone else because very few hagwon bosses have good enough English skills to draft a contract.

If you really object to something just say...I don't think I like this, can we change it? Most reasonable bosses will consider it.
