Know one teacher who was considering leaving her contract early because she missed her dog so much. We would hang out sometimes and if I just mentioned the dogs name she would begin to have tears in her eyes.
Has anyone actually left their contract early just to go home and be with their pet?
And for those of you here that have pets at home and they are being taken care of by parents, friends, etc, how do you deal with the separation? |

If I had a little puppy at home and if I was somewhat financially secure there, you better believe that would be reason enough to go home and be with her. Some people consider pets as family.
I once had a little yellow Lab/Golden retriever mix (75% Lab/25% Golden) and I would totally go home to be with her and take care of her if it were then.
Some people just love their pets and can't stand to be away from them, and I don't blame them--especially when living here is such a drag. |

| My English Setter that I had for years was left behind with the family when I went to Korea for a supposedly one year thing back in '06. Sadly, he died of chest cancer soon after I left. There were no warning signs; he was the same happy, healthy looking/acting dog he had been for the 8 years before according to them. Even if I had known about the cancer, I wouldn't have broken contract and gone back. His time came, and there would have been nothing I could do. Sure, it broke my heart then, and I do still miss him. I've good memories of that dog, for sure. |

Just get a pet here. It could seriously brighten your day. And if you ever leave here you could take it with you.
Of course, given that most apartments/houses here don't have a yard, it'd have to be a small pet. |

There's no cost, aside from getting the shots up to date, when it comes to taking pets from Korea. You don't know what you're talking about. |

| If she wants to go home, then no problem. Some things are more important than money, maybe for her it's her dog. |

I've been teaching at the same elementary school for two years and my contract ends at the beginning of November, and I am looking for a new place of work.  |

The OP is not leaving. Probably doesn't even have a dog. See the actual post. He just enjoys making other people dance.

If you had a kid, you'd spend millions of won on their plane ticket. For many of us, our pets are family. I'd spend millions on my dog if I had to. There are cheaper ways, though. For Americans and Canadians, all it takes is a rabies vaccine, a certificate of health from the vet, and booking them cargo space. That costs a few hundred thousand. In a pinch, there are pet shippers that cost a million or two. |
