i was eaten alive at a guesthouse. when i complained, they said they'd cleaned/taken care of it, but i had to find out (by searching myself) there were still bugs. it was only then, upon showing them one of the crawling bugs on my mattress, that they offered me a new bed.
no refund for the first two nights i was eaten alive and unable to sleep well was offered. upon asking for a partial refund, i was told no. a weekday overnight voucher was suggested by them, instead. are you kidding me?
i was going to avoid the bad reviews (bed bugs at a hostel are unavoidable i assume and i'm not out to hurt someone's business over something that they couldn't help) until they did not care about the bite marks i had to treat or my wasted money. causing me pain and misery instead of giving me a place to sleep? unfortunate. taking my money anyway? evil. i'd avoid that place.
then i read about slander laws in korea. sounds like if i give them a negative review, i could be sued. do you think that is why they didn't care about my opinion as a customer? |

No, you should REPORT this immediately. Bedbugs are taken very seriously here (if you believe recent news reports).
I am not sure where you report it, but the International Clinic at Severence Hospital can direct you to where. That is a hospital that examined cases here in recent years.

Yikes! If I were you, I would put a review on whatever hostel website I could find. I would hate to go to a hostel with bed bugs and find out that other visitors knew about it and didn't write reviews or complain in some way, warning other people to stay away. Bed bugs are absolutely avoidable and should never be accepted or tolerated, even at hostels.
I have stayed at a large number of hostels over the years (here in Korea and in other countries) and not once have I had to deal with bed bugs. If the hostel is decent in any way, they would take care of it pronto. Dealing with that sort of thing is part and parcel with owning and running a hostel, and it sucks that they didn't offer you any kind of refund. |

| You can give us clues/hints that will let anyone looking for a hostel in a certain part of Seoul know which one you're referring to. |
