2) from within Korea, you need a fingerprint form, NOT because Korean immigration won't accept anything else, but because the Canadian consular offices here will not notarize anything other than an RCMP fingerprint form.
"You must get an RCMP CRC and have it notarized and then stamped by the Consulate in Canada." Yeosu Immigration.
Also, why would you have your fingerprint form notarized? Did you mean the actual CRC? And if so, the notarization is done by a notary public and then the Korean consulate in your Canadian area gives it the Consular stamp, not any place in Korea.

3) I ordered mine in June 2011 and it arrived in December 2011. This year, I'll be ordering mine at the 4-month mark (April) and probably receiving in November.
Why are you getting another? Have you left Korea for a significant period of time? You do not need another unless you have. |
No, what I mean is that the Canadian consulate here won't accept just any Canadian CRC (OPP, for example). It has to be an RCMP search, if you're doing it from within Korea - submit fingerprints, wait a long time, then take it to the consulate for the consular seal (though maybe this has changed).
And yeah, I was travelling SE Asia for three months. When this contract's up I plan to do Spain for a month before coming back and working another year. I just like to have my docs prepped early, it's not like its a huge deal to get them together if you plan ahead. |

The tracking information shows that my fingerprint form was received by the RCMP on Jan. 14th of this year. Received it in Toronto yesterday; just shy of two months which was totally unexpected. |

So, after fighting with immigration for the past week or so, it seems they will allow me to use my non-RCMP record check. This after telling me that my old one was no good and I had no options but to get an RCMP check. I had 5 different Korean people call immigration for me to explain that my CRC was issued from a local cop shop but was run through the national database and that Canadian national/provincial procedures should not be bunched together with American national/state procedures as one and the same due to physical proximity. Finally, they determined that it was valid and covered all of the bases. This only after I made them go back and look 5 times after arguing incredulously the first visit in person.
Unreal how bad this system is. Get your @#$% together. |

You DO NOT need an RCMP check using fingerprints. I just successfully renewed my visa yesterday with a simple local police check. Nowhere on it does it say "RCMP". It does, however, mention that the results are taken from the national database.
I had my mother get it for me, since I haven't left Korea. She just showed a copy of my passport to the nearest police station and they printed out my check. My mother then sent it to the Korean Consulate, where they stamped it, sent it back to her, and she then sent it to me in Korea.
The immigration officer did look it over for quite awhile and discussed it with the staff member from my school a bit, who assured him it was a national check. It in the end (after about 30 seconds) he accepted it and stamped my ARC card with a new date. |

I applied in Canada and it took two days to receive my results in the mail.
I did it through Commissionaires--digital rolled fingerprints. |

Two question...
1) Did the consulate/embassy verify the CRC?
2) was it accepted by Korean government either MOE or immigration?
Looking again at the site. It might be good for those in the Ottawa Korean consulate area. I am certain that some jurisdiction issues might come up. Me I have to get my mine done in Vancouver.
Still it is worth a try for some people. |
