It pretty clear he didn't like those two officers very much and he didn't want to be in the army anymore either.
Korea is probably the only country on earth where a soldier can kill two superior officers and then run a few hundred meters and get away with it. |
I never thought that way.
As to the question will SK send the soldier to Nork to be tried (shot on the spot)? I'd say it's very possible since he has committed serious crime murdering two of his commanding officers. If this Nork soldier is allowed to stay in SK without any consequences, SK soldiers may possibly do the same and get away with it. |
Um, I think it's called self defence. Had he of let them live and he tried crossing to the south, they would have shot him. You can't really blame anyone for wanting to leave that place. Also, I have no sympathy for a government that treats much of it's own people as badly as they do. He's probably not a murderer in the regular sense. A physcological profiling may be able to determine whether or not he's a threat to society. The South Koreans may monitor him to make sure he isn't a spy. But, if he checks out, let him enjoy his new freedom.
As for the family, who knows? He had to have known that to escape. But, maybe he was in such a dire situation that he did it anyways. Let's hope his family isn't punished too severely by the government of NK. |

| I can't speak to Korean intrapeninsular immigration policies, but if a Cuban can make dry land in Florida, it's "Bienvenido"!!!! |

Despite the current South Korean government is still promoting anti-NK policies to the South Korean military, it still ignores North Korean army personnels who defect to South Korea.
I have heard something interesting a while ago. No matter who wins the next South Korea presidential election in December, the South Korean military will likely have more (closet) pro-NK generals for the sake of being independence from domestic partisan politics. There has been a lot of problems with the South Korean military since 2008 and it's mostly because some conservative party members have volunteered to become political officers (politruky in Russian).
You may call me crazy because I heard about this strange fact a while ago. |
