In our never ending quest for a good job there have been many disappointments.
I was wondering though if you were turned down by a place or places only to look back and be thankful about it because the current job you have now have is so much better than those that rejected you could ever be. |

I don't consider a school unless I've had an offer, otherwise I'm either too busy looking for work or working. Yes probably I could've got a worse job elsewhere - I've certainly had them! |

Kind of, but it was a publishing company looking to hire an editor, not a school. I actually got a tentative offer for hire, but a previous editor decided to come back to the company at the last minute, and they gave preference to seniority. Then I shopped around more and got my current job. Just as I was about to sign the contract for my current job, another editor position opened up at the same company, but I turned them down because I was more interested in my current job. I would probably have enjoyed being an editor, but my current position is really something special and I feel that it fits me perfectly. |

Even if you have to go home, keep the faith and keep applying when you can afford to go back. |

I was rejected one particular job due to my lack of Korean language skills and because I had ESL experience on my resume (was an editing job).
The thing is, you have to explain your Korean ability when applying. I didn't lie and was still asked to come in. As for the ESL experience, the ignorant old foreign hag got hung up on that and completely neglected the four years of more recent editing experience.
I imagine that job would have sucked. |

I wonder if this also applies to EPIK in some sort of way. |
