It's interesting to note that you are so down on educators while at the same time trumpeting your own academic ability as something we should all revere.

I was trying the prove a point that your claims of being equally qualified as I was a ridiculous statement.

Should you really be correcting my spelling mistakes when writing sentences like this?

You still haven't replied to my query. Again, I ask you. Does your disdain for high school teachers extend to Korean high school teachers?

I think you don't answer because you're afraid to.

Absolutely.

Haven't you seen that post containing the video clip of a Korean teacher beating up a highschool student??

What makes you think I would differentiate between Korean highschool teachers and Kiwi ones?? Why would I respect Korean bums while having contempt for Kiwi bums??

I see. Because one high school teacher is bad, all are bad. Isn't that the kind of logic you say you are trying to dispel?

I'm not pedantic about my writing when posting on forums such as this.

Afterall, correcting sentences is your job....... I thought I'd give you some work for you to do for a change.

Personally, Koreans highschool teachers are really pathetic.

I heard that they used to beat up their students. (Not in isolated cases, but it used to be widespread)

Don't know if it still happens.

Ah.... why should I care...... I was never pedantic about my writing when posting on forums filled with esl teachers.

Besides correct sentences is your job. I thought it would be nice to give you something to do for a change.

You labelled 90% of ESL teachers as weirdos, yet I can honestly say that I have never encountered such racist, bitter drivel in all my time as a poster on this board. Your contribution today has been marred by bigotry, hate, and disgrace. You are a dreadful ambassador for this country, even according to my Korean friends. Now go home, stick on another blue movie, and vent your deep insecuritites in that way.

That's fine, but you're correcting my mistakes too. You're just not consistant. Where's stellar intellect you're so keen to crow about?

Ah your just sore about your static life.

No room for growth. Teaching ABC everyday for the next 20-30 years of your life doesn't sound too exciting.

Too bad your not intelligible either.

You make a point that english is your strength but yet... you make basic spelling errors and you are unable to differentiate the use of role and roll.

Are you really a qualified english teacher with a masters degree??

Look chump, give it up. Your just as unqualified as most ESL teachers here in Korea.

I thought your criticism of Korean teachers would be based on something a little more academic. What do I know? I don't teach high school either.

What you're saying is, you saw a video, and you heard something. And because you saw this video and you heard this something you're ready to conclude that all Korean high school teachers are crap. Yet you have a problem with those who experience Korea day in and day out and post their negative opinions on Korean adult males. Does that about sum it up?

Are you suggesting that Korea is "very famous" in the real world? I have some very well educated friends in the UK, and upon hearing of my intention to go to Korea, they asked me "are you going to North Korea, or South Korea?".

Gwangjuboy:

I don't know what you think you're proving with this anecdote. To me, it just proves that your friends are stupid. And considering that Britain actually participated in the Korean War, I'd say their ignorance is pretty shocking indeed.

Perhaps I'm being a bit too harsh. I got the same question myself from friends back home. But I would take their ignorance to be a comment on their own intellectual limitations, not on Korea's standing in the world.

Just kinda curious, Hand: do you point out to your "friends" their "ignorance" & "intellectual limitations? With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Mosley:

No, I don't. Mostly because I try to avoid insulting people with whom I am not already engaged in some kind of argument. And of course we all fall a little short of being supergeniuses from time to time, so I try to cut people some slack in that department.

But, yeah, if my friends were to cite their own ignorance of Korean affairs as proof that Korea is an insignificant country, than I might be tempted to crank up the rhetorical fireworks.
