|

I'm trying to clarify the process of registering my son as a Canadian citizen. I'm Canadian and my wife is Korean. The process is really confusing and I think I got it down but just wanted to make sure.
First, I must register his birth with the Embassy and then I must apply for his passport correct? I'm assuming that this cannot be done on the same day?
I have all the documents (is the only additional document the application form)): Korean birth certificate from the hospital, Family Relations Certificate, my Canadian passport, and my wife's Korean passport. I know the first 2 documents must be translated. Any good places to get this done? I understand that all the translating places are by the old Canadian Embassy but not sure about the new location.
Also, the hospital gave us 2 birth certificates: 1 in English with his English name and 1 in Korean with his Korean name. The family relations certificate is in Korean with his Korean name. I would like to have his Canadian passport with his English name but this would not be possible correct?
Any clarification on the process or tips will be immensely appreciated.
Thanks in advance! |

Technically you should be able to apply for the passport when you register the birth of your child if you have all the necessary documents, the certified passport picture and all that.
Good luck! |

No worries.
I just hope this helps you guys out!
We have 2 mixed kids (son and daughter). We were in Korea from 1997 to 2008 and have visited each year since. If you have questions about mixed kids or just want to chat about that with another parent, feel free to pm me!
Once again, congratulations from both of us to you guys. |
