Hi
does any one have any idea how long it takes to get from Osan to central Seoul (train, bus, subway) & how much does it cost? |

I believe there's also an express subway from Osan too. Only stops 4 times from Osan to Yongsan, this can shave a good 10-15minutes off the journey. (It's pretty tricky finding the times of the train though, there is usually a board at the subway - all in korean though). |

About 40 minutes by non-stop bus to Seoul, which departs every 20mins or so. Go and see for yourself - the bus terminal is in front of the train station, and the timetables up there are both in English and Korean.
Very few trains stop in Osan now since the subway line was installed a couple of years ago. |

Digging up an old thread looking for updated info on the best way to get from Seoul to Osan AFB main gate...
I need to go to the Osan main gate tomorrow. I looked at the subway map and the express train doesn't stop at Songtan station, which is closest to the base. Express trains and Mugunghwas stop at Osan station. Is there a bus from there?
Thanks. |

There's a bus between Osan AB (a.k.a. K-55) main gate and Pyeongtaek train station in the south, but you won't find a bus between Songtan and Osan city proper.
Other than trains, if you happen to be close to line 3 metro, you can consider taking intercity bus from Nambu Bus Terminal (2 stops down from the Express Bus Terminal) to Songtan, and catching a cab from there. Buses to Songtan depart in about 15-20 minute intervals, although their terminus vary - Pyeongtaek Harbor, some university, some industrial complex, etc. |

A little late but it may help you in the future. . .
Where in Seoul?
From any part of west Seoul ie easy access to line 1 take the express train 급행 to Osan terminal. Regular line from Seoul stn is over an hour express from Youngsan is 45 min.
Or From Gangnam there is a 5300 G bus (red) that will take you to Osan in 1 hr.
Once at Osan transfer to the regular line for the last two stops. Or leave the station and jump on the 2 or 2-2 bus. Both will get you close. Once in Songtan you could walk to the main gate or take a taxi for the minimum fee. If you ask the bus driver for songbook sinchang you will be as close as those buses will get you. Near the market there is a large taxi stand if you walk down that side street (you'll see taxis and a "Wa Bar")it there is a walking underpass beneath the train tracks (you're walking west now)
From Songtan station you could walk but just take a taxi for the fun of it. Everyone in Songtan knows "main gate" or "Osan airbase."
Or, from nambu terminal there are very frequent express buses to Songtan terminal. taxi or walk from there as well. |
