The sandwich shop down the road a bit had a line out the door; next time I'll try there.

If there are mostly Koreans standing in line... don't believe the hype. This is a conformist culture, they stand in lines because they see other people standing in lines, robot society. But, hm, which sandwich shop are you talking about, do you remember the name? I don't live in HBC but I go there every now and then. And, I'm constantly in search of the elusively delicious sandwich. The Baker's Table has good ones. Jacoby/Jacoby's (whatever it is) isn't too bad, but it's difficult to keep everything in place. Combine the Korean tendency to fold excessive amounts of romaine (reminds me of my ex-wife) lettuce into a burger bun like a slinky, and that shit jumps out of your hands the second you put it down.

Hackney is by far the best spot on the road. Fantastic cakes made in-house and properly done, epic proportioned sandwiches (which I think they may actually have stopped selling sometime last week Sad well, it was good while it lasted).

If they haven't stopped, I'd be interested in knowing more about this place. I'm surprised I've never heard of it or seen it, though I semi-frequent the area. Anymore details?

@John Stamos

It's the cafe across the street from Casablanca with the silver awnings. It's getting pretty popular. Do yourself a favor and grab a huge slice of either banana or carrot cake. If the sandwiches are still on the menu, I'd recommend the turkey pesto.
