Apparently, we get a health check every 2 years as part of the normal national insurance coverage.

I received an ambiguous notice about it the other day which seemed to suggest that the results would be sent directly to my employer.

Now I'm thinking this just might mean they send confirmation that I actually underwent the screening.

Does anyone know how this works, exactly? It seems like a gross breach of personal privacy to send medical records to an employer.

Oh, yeah. And if I decide to go for a more comprehensive health check paid for out of pocket, does anyone have recommendations for facilities with some English-speaking staff, reasonable prices, and a decent level of professionalism?

Yup..... Ours get sent to the dept office. One year, they opened the results too. That just happened once, but it was a bit discomforting.

You can likely get the address changed. The school pays for our check, and in the absence of knowing where else to send them, if only makes sense to send to the purchaser.

There is another option my univ told me. You can not do it and pay like a 50,000 won fine.

I'm seriously thinking about paying it. I'm supposed to go in for it on Weds and for some reason they want to do an endoscopy. I've been told when I get there I can tell them no endoscopy. If they insist I'll tell them to f it and pay the 50k

I don't mind a basic health check which I had to get when I got this job but one with a medically unnecessary procedure is where i draw the line

I told my school "If you don't mind paying for it, I don't mind doing it."

They did and so I did.

Or they could just ask you for your address. This seems beyond dodgy to me. That's it. I'm skipping it.

I just gave the hospital my address. Why do they have your employers address?
The forms they give you to fill in are unrelated to your place of employment, and you can put any address in the box.

Cool.

What is included in the test?

And again, any recommendations for places to go for good, thorough medical checks paid for out of pocket?

I just went to my local hospital to get the health check. It was all free.
I was having problems with my bilary system a few years ago and went to get some checks done at Yonsei near Hongik Uni. I paid out of pocket and felt they were pretty comprehensive. The doctor took time to explain things to me rather than the usual rush you get when dealing with doctors. I don't think it was too pricey.

I must say for all my negativity about this country, the worst hospital experiences I have had have been back at home (touch wood).
