Was wondering where others are going, and whether or not your workplace has any issues with you leaving for vacation in the winter? I'll be sticking around, working extra camp hours and such for more coinage.

SO what are you planning to do?

i have an offer of either 900k for 25th - 28th (camp) or til the 31st for 1.45m

not bad pay but not sure how much that work would entail, especially with the lack of holidays the rest of the year.

would love to go skiing or to a hotter climate but have booked a holiday to hong kong in march and need to pay those bills. would love to head to nauru/palau/solomon islands etc

Going to do some swimming/snorkling in the Philippines. BTW why would your workplace/school have any issues with you leaving on vacation? It's your vacation...they must let you have it, it's just that it can't be taken during regular school days and the like.

We have about 18 waygooks on staff now, and usually most of us trying to snatch up extra work because it pays well. The concern this time around is that a lot of people seem to be taking off for home this winter. I will stay around in the winter, so I'm more than happy to take what I can get. Our school seems to do a pretty good job of pre-planning who will work when (if they want). We haven't had any problems, as of yet.

Winter camp followed by desk warming, warming the desk, raising the temperature of the desk, making observations on second law of thermodynamics between my body and the desk, observing conduction of heat from me to the desk, talk Maxwell's Demon into reversing the second law, wait for 'violet crunch'.

I believe there is another short vacation around February for about 2 weeks (for public elementary schools). Can anyone confirm the likely dates for that vacation?
I think i can't go home during the winter vacation because my camp is 3 weeks long, thus leaving me with only 1 measely week (not enough to return to the homeland).

Usually, they fall on last two weeks of Feb. But just to be sure, ask your co-teacher. They should have plans all laid out in their book.
