Hello everyone!
So I arrived in Korea 2 weeks ago to find out my employer has left out some vital info about the role of foreign teachers at his school. Previously, before me that is, there were 2 foreign teachers whose contracts finished on the same date.during the interview he did not mention that I would be replacing BOTH teachers.
I teach 10 classes a day, 30 mins each. However the classes are on 1 hr schedules. So essentially I take over class from Korean teacher after her teaching half a class and I attempt to continue on same topic, and vice versa. With miscommunication, I am generally given no notice whatsoever of what Korean teacher will teach, it's a freaking horrible situation, kids are super unruly (honestly who can blame them?). So now teaching 100+ kids, double the planning, essays and homework marking.
Can someone please give me heads up if this is as bad as I think it is? Or is this situation not unheard of and I need to suck it up?
Many thanks in advance,
Danielle |

Are they planning on hiring another FT?
That might mean you would get some relief soon.
If not, I'd say your in for a rough year. |

No apparently they don't feel like they need another one.
Aka trying to be cheap? |

Maybe they can't afford the expense right now,
I just re-read your post and noticed that your classes are 30 mins.
It sounds like a standard Wond678lan56789d contract.
Some love 'em, most hate 'em.
Best of luck. |
