Of course the "apology" (if it can even be realistically called that) was from his management/publicist/handlers. That's the lamest celeb apology I've seen in years...heck, ever. He needs to get a new publicist.

problem is his management team, beibers team, will just power through this, he will appear at the grammys, music award shows, more tv appearances, avoid talking about what he said on shows. go to the white house, keep doing this stupid little horse dance, and then release his new album with a huge marketing campaign , investing millions of PR and promotion to get the new song out there.. and then we will see what happens. its either make or break

Why is it a problem? Eminem is still making music, some members of NWA produce and make music, IceT is on a tv show.

Those rappers you mentioned are members of the same family: Americans. Yeah, it's shameful, but it's not the same as someone from another country doing it. I'm sure Eminem trashes America because he loves his country and doesn't like seeing it go in the direction it has been...Psy said it because he had vitriol in his heart toward Americans--completely different.

Did Eminem/NWA/ICE T tell people to kill American servicemen and their families? Seriously, I don't know I never listen to their stuf.

I do know this....if it was an American who had sang about killing koreans in a rap song and wanted to visit korea...immigration would not allow that person in the country!
Now we will see if American immigration has the kahunas to not allow Psy into the U.S.!
Of course Psy is apologizing about his behavior....so would you or I! But he not sincere.

Yes, I was surprised to see it but when my wife opened Naver she saw it. I thought for sure they would avoid/ignore it.

I always felt that the unprecedented attention Korea was receiving from the popularity of that silly song would come back to bite it in the ass. I felt that it wasn't in Korea's interest that it stand in the spotlight too long. There were just too many unseemly aspects to Korean culture that the spotlight ran the risk of revealing to the world.

It didn't take long.

Good point, thats exactly what I'm expecting for upcoming winter Olympics. People say that theyre so proud of Korea getting winter games because the world will know Korea. The world media will be scrutinizing the facilities, athletes, city, and citizens and they may not like everything they see. Psy had the world's attention on him, now they see something they may not like. Before this story broke, I wouldnt have minded it Psy won Time's People Choice person of the year.

Here's the thing. Why didn't the Korean media condemn PSY back in 2004 for those lyrics. I'm pretty sure the concert got wide media coverage. Where was the outrage from other Koreans against those lyrics. Why is it only non-Koreans who are condemning them (now that they have come to light). If he had mouthed such words against an identifiable group in the States he would have been condemned. In the UK or Canada he'd likely be arrested and charged with inciting hatred of an identifiable group. But in Korea the silence, as in all such cases here, is deafening. Same as when English teachers are depicted in the media as drug-addicted rapists and paedolphiles with forged degrees noone comes to our defence. Noone from the political left, unions, universities, churches, the media. Noone. This is what makes Korea different from other liberal democracies, and makes the culture so disagreeable to many Westerners. Sure we have our racist nutjobs in the States, but they are called to account. For every Bill O'Reilly there's a John Stewart. For Fox News, there's MSNBC. For Sean Hannity, there's Bill Maher. Only in Korea can a pop star say such dreadful racist garbage and not be called to account. And why exactly were they not called to account? Did nobody in the Korean media - nobody - find them sufficiently objectionable to comment on? If not, why not? Even a few months ago MBC aired a program titled, "The Truth about Relationships with Foreigners'. It was also full of xenophobic racist bile, and it didn't seem to bother any Koreans whatsoever. If it did, again the silence was deafening. There certaintly weren't (to my knowledge) any news articles condemning the program, or politicians, churches or civil rights groups expressing their disapproval. An unfortunate aspect of Korean culture which, as Korea becomes better known around the world, can only hurt its standing among the nations.

Here is the thing...

If CY had come out and said that the lyrics about killing wives and daughters and family members was wrong, but stood by his anger about the American tank incident, many Americans would respect him for that. Instead he turned his back on the 2 little girls that he was rapping about originally. That's pure cowardice. He missed a teachable moment. And the reason he missed it was because he's always been in this simply for the publicity. He's been using people for publicity and doesn't really stand for anything but himself. Not that a lot of other entertainers are any different.

He could have brought more attention to that tank incident than Korea ever could have.Instead he put his tail between his legs hoping that his bank account would not suffer.

Spot on!

And where were you koreans when Psy made the rap song? I did not see or hear any koreans coming out against Psy!

Wasn't the Korean media fanning the flames with BS themselves back then?

Why would he stand by his anger over the tank incident?

You do know it was an accident?

Americans wouldn't respect this. They like me would first be confused and then extremely angered over the overreaction to an accident.

Angered over how quickly the public and press accepted lies on how the Americans reacted (i.e. didn't apologize, laughed or backed-up to make sure they were dead). And angered over the hypocrisy in that the Korean military has their own sofa agreements abroad and a separate jurisdiction for their soldiers while on duty domestically.

No sorry. Nobody should respect anger over an act which was simply a horrible accident.
