In case anyone cares: The cinema at Wangsimni in Seoul is showing the 48fps 3D version. Most other theaters in Seoul seem to be showing the 24fps version. |

I actually just took a literature class on Tolkien where I had to read all the LOTR related books including the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales (check them out if you enjoy his other books). The hobbit is indeed a short book on paper, but theres so much going on that Tolkien doesn't go into detail about. Tolkien puts a lot of emphasis on Bilbo and the Dwarves, but while the story is focused on them, Gandalf is actually doing a lot behind the scenes. So i'm assuming Peter Jacksons going to throw in Gandalf's story into the mix. There wasn't much romance in the book as well, but expect to see some romance in the movie. I'm excited, hopefully it'll be on par with the LOTR trilogy! |

IMAX HFR 3D is also showing at CGV Sangam (World Cup Stadium). |

I've tried reading The Hobbit years ago. I couldn't get passed page 5. It just wasn't my kind of reading (I'm not into fantasy novels at all). I liked the LOR movie trilogy, though. |

It's playing in 3-D at 48 fps at CGV Yatap as well (in Seoungnam).
But you might still wanna catch it at another theatre...the screen sizes over there aren't that big. |

I know this is probably a stretch but has anyone watch this film twice?
once in 48HFR and once in 24frame rate?
can someone compare the two? |

It was okay. But something about it feels too digital/slick and not real enough. The LOTR felt fleshy, sweaty and real, this seems silly and cartoony. Could be the 48fps or too much digital manipulation. Also they are really dragging it out. |

It was decent. There are things I would've changed about it, but it was really more of the same. If you liked LOTR, you'll like this. Great performance by Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman. Can't compare it to the book as I haven't read it.
One thing I didn't like about it were the constant "saved by the last minute" type scenes when the characters were in danger. Almost every action or suspense scene ended in that manner. |
I thought it got repetitive after awhile. I liked how in-depth it got, but after the fourth extended battle omg-we're-gonna-die scene I got a bit burnt out on it.
Serkis and Freeman were great though.
The dwarves are kinda weird.
