Quote:
Legend has it that Sim, a former Suwon mayor who made his fortune with a metal products business and was dubbed "Mr Toilet," was born in his impoverished grandmother's outhouse.

"He is a man whose life literally began in a toilet and ended at a commode-shaped house," said Lee Yeun-sook, manager of planning at the "Mr. Toilet Sim Jae-duck Foundation."

Too funny. Please tell me someone here has been to the "Golden Poop Art Festival". Phallic (really? can't say the P word here?) statue parks, poop parks... what's next? (Big nose statue park, please Twisted Evil)

Well it seems quite appropriate for what is considered "art" these days.

How can you have a toilet museum in Korea? Is it possible? toilets are a relatively new phenomenon here.

There were no toilets in korea until about 1910.

People simply used chamber pots and slung their waste out onto the street.

..Where it was collected by people pushing carts..much the same as you see old folks hauling cardboard now. It was then sold to the farmers to fertilise fields.

It was the norm to openly poo in the street. The first Japanese colonists called Korea "the land of sh*t". Read the history books...

It's not easy to get to, but for those with kids it's a fun summer outing. And I hate to praise Korea, given the readership of this board, but toilets have improved a lot here over the years...
