My friend says his hogwon is making him work on Election Day even though it is supposed to be a holiday. Another friend said his school is giving him the day off for election day, but he has to make up for it by working on Satrurday. |

Students are too young to vote. E-2s are inelligible to vote. It's a national holiday for voters. Since you are not voting, might as well do some work. Public schools are closed because teachers and staff can vote. I can't, but I get a day off. |

Election Day isn't designated a National Holiday. It is a public observance day and government offices and banks will have the day off. Everyone else can elect to have the day off or work. It is not a mandatory holiday. I did have that day off, but my school changed it saying that we will already have a day of at the end of December for "Winter Vacation." It's a one day winter vacation....seriously? |

Your school is not good. Everything was closed yesterday. I tried to pay some of my bills at the apartment management office but it was closed. I tried to go to the dentist but he was closed too. At least i got to go hiking yesterday which was nice. |

That part sucks, but I do get to take my extra 5 days winter vacation when I want to, unlike most hagwons that force you to take the vacation when they want you to. I feel sorry for the Korean teachers though. |
