Here's an article about Jeon-Sae.

"전세 사는 사람들에 날벼락 같은 소식" = Lightning strikes on people living on Jeon-Sae.

Sorry, I don't have time to translate.

Actually you cannot get insurance, you can register yourself as a priority creditor behind the government and the mortgagee(s), that's it.

Yep, that's what I've got, govt registered. My friend says you can buy private insurance, but nobody does that cause they don't want to pay for it. I imagine if the market turned against everyone suddenly it would be gaaame over, just like the 2008 US debacle.

I'd appreciate if you could ask your friend where? As I would buy it if someone would sell it to me.

^ All my friend said was the agent who set up the deal could arrange for that option...it's just not an option Koreans normally opt.

This practice of Landlords only returning Key money to the current tenant after the next tenants stumps up the next sum of Key money has got to stop.

I thought once upon a time that Landlords were required by law to lock that money away for the duration of the tenants' contract rather than using it on their next (risky) housing investment which may or may not give returns.

Is it still current that you can live rent free until the Landlord has returned Key money at the end of a contract?

I always just assumed they could "ponzi scheme away" endlessly, but don't know for sure.
